FAQs
What do I need to do before my appointment?
Will it be painful?
How long does it take to heal?
Is it permanent?
Why can I not receive a cosmetic tattoo?
It is advised to avoid taking any blood thinners, alcohol/narcotics or pain relievers 24-48hrs before your appointment. Rentin-A or fish oil must be stopped 10 days before treatment. Botox must not be administered in the 3 weeks leading up to your appointment. No henna/brow dye or tint must be in the brow at the time of your appointment as the colour of your brow hair determines what pigment colour is chosen.
A pre numbing cream is applied before your procedure and also throughout your treatments so the pain level is fairly low, you may experience a very low grade sensation if at all. A certain amount of bruising, swelling or redness may occur with this procedure.
The healing process is around 4 to 6 weeks. After the treatment it is normal to feel a sunburned sensation for a couple of days followed by dry, itchy or tender skin. Brows will appear 30-40% darker straight after your procedure with the colour to lighten as it heals. It is completley normal for flaking with the pigment to disappear but slowly reappear as they settle.
Cosmetic Tattooing is often referred to as Semi Permanent Makeup, this can be deceiving because pigment is implanted under the skin, not as deep as a traditional tattoo but in most cases will never fade away to nothing. Colour refreshers are always recommended anywhere from 18mths to 3 years, this will freshen up the colour and bring it back to the original colour as the pigment can fade/change over time.
